Legal firm Ashurst adopt converged IP and mobile communications solution from Olive

Leading International Law firm ‘Ashurst’ continues to set the pace and lead the industry by using the innovation of ‘Olive Communications’ to redefine their Global Enterprise Mobility.

10 April 2013: Ashurst moves a step closer to a fully-fledged BYOD strategy as they select Olive Communications for their Enterprise Mobility Solution.

Leading International Law firm Ashurst Solicitors LLP have selected Olive Communications to provide a major enterprise mobility strategy.  Olive will take over management of domestic and corporate mobile services for thousands of Ashurst staff at multiple international locations around the globe.

Ashurst’s IT Services Manager ‘Paul Beckwith’ said, “Our objective is to ensure our staff have the right tools for the job in a highly dynamic environment and that irrespective of device or location, their connectivity is high quality, cost-effective & secure. Increasingly staff want to make choices about the device type they use and we needed to get the balance right between providing a fit for purpose company device, but also allowing people to use their own if appropriate, whilst maintaining control, visibility and accountability for expenditure. Olive demonstrated clear expertise in pulling this together in a single managed service framework using multiple global partners”

The innovative approach of ‘Olive’ is to help Ashurst internationally increase productivity and reduce cost, by ensuring that not only can airtime be sourced locally in region and billed back in the UK for longer durations, but also by affording users the most cost-effective data connection in the cloud without making individual choices on the ground, eradicating “bill shock” and allowing larger quantities of data to be transferred by smart phone and tablet devices cost effectively.

Beckwith continues, “…We wanted a solution where they don’t need to think, or worry about the method of data connection, leaving them free to do their job, whilst at the same time as an I.T. function maintaining security, visibility and cost predictability, both in the UK & abroad. The Olive team built a solution that fits Ashursts’ current and future needs on all levels and took an independent approach to selecting the core components and providers of our solution, and then federating them into a fully managed service.”

Ashurst first engaged with Olive through a series of initial discovery workshops started by rationalising the UK Mobile estate with Vodafone and optimising tariffs to reduce costs. Phase Two of the project introduced the ability to source and supply international airtime from around the world via the Olive account team as a “one-stop shop”, and the introduction of a fully hosted iPass remote access client for over 500 frequent international travellers, once again managed by the Olive account team.

Martin Flick, Managing Director, Olive Communications said,

“Olive has a very strong Enterprise Mobility offering for UK based organisations working both domestically, and abroad. The challenges which face a business when considering how to reduce cost and improve workforce efficiency against a backdrop of the high cost of mobile data, consumerisation and demand for BYOD, coupled with the multitude of devices, network carriers and device management software providers that are available today can make building a strategy quite daunting. No single manufacturer or Network can meet the needs of business in this environment, and Olive’s consultative approach can provide the glue to federate best of breed services from multiple providers into a single solution. We are excited and delighted to be working with Ashurst who are leaders in their field to use technology for the benefit of their clients and corporate citizens alike”.
